COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project taking place Saturday, Feb. 11
The PPG plant in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, has planned a COLORFUL
COMMUNITIES™ project this Saturday, Feb. 11, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., at
American Legion Post No. 1 in nearby Germantown. The Colorful
Communities program provides PPG employee volunteers and products, along
with financial contributions, to bring color and vitality to communities
where PPG operates around the world, such as southeast Wisconsin.
PPG’s industrial coatings plant in Oak Creek is donating paint and
materials to freshen up the inside of the American Legion Post using 35
gallons of Satin Latex paint. Volunteers, coordinated by the Waukesha
County Labor Council, will be doing the painting. The project begins at
7 a.m. and will continue until about 3 p.m. All volunteers will receive
shirts supplied by PPG and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and
Waukesha County. Morning snacks will be provided by the Waukesha County
Labor Council, and lunch will be provided by American Legion Post No. 1.
The American Legion is the nation's largest wartime veterans service
organization, with a commitment to mentoring youth and a focus on
service to veterans, service members and communities.
“These posts, found throughout the U.S., play an important role in every
community where they are located. They are not just for veterans but
also for area residents who gather for a wide variety of activites
throughout the year,” said Jack Marshall, PPG plant manager at the Oak
Creek facility. “We are proud to help ensure that the hall will continue
to be the setting of many memories for people in the Germantown area.”
The Colorful Communities program is PPG’s signature initiative for
community engagement efforts, with the aim to enhance, protect and
beautify neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. The program
increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities and supports
projects that transform community spaces, providing PPG volunteers and
donated PPG products. In 2015 and 2016 combined, PPG completed nearly 60
Colorful Communities projects, and it expects to complete about 75 more
this year.
PPG and the PPG Foundation aim to bring color and brightness to PPG
communities around the world. We donated nearly $9.8 million in 2016,
supporting hundreds of community organizations across 25 countries. By
investing in educational opportunities, we help grow today’s skilled
workforce and develop tomorrow’s innovators in fields related to
coatings and manufacturing. Plus, we empower PPG employees to multiply
their impact for causes that are important to them by supporting their
volunteer efforts and charitable giving. Learn more at www.ppgcommunities.com
