Two PPG speakers, PPG plant tour also slated
PPG (NYSE: PPG) will showcase advanced ENVIROCRON® high transfer
efficiency (HTE) powder coatings, and PPG representatives will teach a
seminar, host a plant tour and present a paper, during the Powder
Coating 2017 Technical Conference at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis,
March 27-31.
Envirocron HTE coatings are TGIC-free and bisphenol A-free (BPA-free)
powder coatings engineered to protect and beautify geometrically complex
surfaces. Formulated with a proprietary cross-linking polymer,
Envirocron HTE powder coatings have faster build-rates than traditional
polyester coatings when applied to metal racks and components with
decorative patterns, recessed cavities, tubular shapes and other
intricate, difficult-to-coat surfaces. With first-pass
transfer-efficiency rates of 85 percent or better, Envirocron HTE
coatings are ideal for spray-to-waste applicators seeking to reduce
product loss.
Susan Miller, PPG technical manager, industrial coatings, will present a
technical paper titled “Durable and Ultradurable Coatings for Wire Goods
and Complex Metal Parts,” at about 11 a.m. Central Time on March 30. The
session will demonstrate how the technology behind Envirocron HTE
coatings represents a major technical advance—compared to traditional
polyester coatings—for finishing metal racks and parts with decorative
patterns, recessed cavities and other intricate, difficult-to-coat
surfaces.
Jerry Burchett, PPG national sales manager, casket division, will teach
a two-day seminar titled “Powder Coating 101: Basic Essentials with Lab
Shop,” March 27-28, starting with classroom instruction and concluding
with a hands-on training session at PPG’s Brazil, Indiana, coatings
plant. Course content will be based on “Powder Coating: The Complete
Finisher’s Handbook,” published by the Powder Coating Institute (PCI).
PPG also will highlight additional products from the Envirocron family
of powder coatings, such as Envirocron XMR (extreme mar resistance)
coatings, during the event, as well as ENVIRACRYL® acrylic-based powder
coatings. Envirocron XMR coatings feature a proprietary PPG formulation
that gives the surface of powder coatings ceramic-like properties,
enabling them to achieve hardness and mar resistance comparable to
porcelain enamel coatings. Enviracryl coatings provide high-gloss color
and clear-coat protection for class A-type industrial finishes using the
same technology as Enviracryl coatings for automotive clear coats,
wheels and transportation applications.
