Mexico City, May 12, 2026 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced the launch of its SEM® brand to the
automotive repair industry in Mexico. The SEM brand has more than 70 years of experience
manufacturing products for vehicle surface preparation and repair, including abrasives and
finishing products.
PPG has launched its SEM product line at automotive repair shops in Mexico.
Recognized by industry professionals in the United States and Australia, the SEM
brand has established itself as a benchmark in solutions that optimize refinish processes and
enhance the quality of the final finish. Under the concept “The choice of the pros,” the brand
aims to support painters, detailers and automotive specialists in achieving professional finishes
with less material waste by providing the right solutions for each stage of the process. From
efficient surface preparation using high-performance abrasives, to precise masking and fast,
effective repair of minor damage with aerosol systems, SEM products enable a more
streamlined workflow and consistent, high-quality results.
“In Mexico, more than 45,000 automotive painters work under pressure to deliver high-quality
finishes – performance at the body shop level is critical to profitability and customer

The SEM brand offers a comprehensive portfolio now available in Mexico,
designed to support professionals throughout the refinishing process. It includes high- and
mid-performance abrasives for fast, consistent sanding; detailing solutions for superior
correction and finishing; high-performance masking tapes for precise application; and an
innovative custom aerosol system for quick, clean touch-ups in the workshop.

SEM products will be available during the first half of 2026 at points of sale through
PPG-authorized distributors, as well as in Comex® stores in cities including Mexico City,
Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, León and Tijuana.
