"We are so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in this community project to renovate both departments and create a bright space where patients spend a lot of time"

ZILINA, Slovakia, Nov., 29, 2018 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project at The Faculty Hospital in Zilina, Slovakia, that helped revitalize the Department of Children’s Orthopedics and the Gynecology, Obstetrics and Newborn Department. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Zilina, where PPG has a Dom Farieb retail store and an architectural coatings administrative office.

The project brought together more than 35 PPG volunteers, who spent two days revitalizing the two departments. PPG provided $19,600 (€16 800) to assist with the project, including more than 300 litres (79 gallons) of PRIMALEX®, BALAKRYL® and JOHNSTONE’S® interior wall and trim paint.

Established in 1913, The Faculty Hospital is the major healthcare facility in the Zilina region, with almost 800 beds for intensive and long-term care. The hospital treats more than 200,000 adults and children each year, with its Gynecology, Obstetrics and Newborn Department handling around 1,500 childbirths annually. The hospital also has one of only two orthopedics centers in Slovakia.

Volunteers painted walls and trim in patient rooms, bathrooms, staff areas and operating rooms in the Department of Children’s Orthopedics using a palette of bright colors to create a colorful yet soothing space to make the children’s hospital stays as pleasant as possible. Operating rooms were also repainted to meet health quality standards. In the Gynecology, Obstetrics and Newborn Department, volunteers painted the walls, cots, baby changing tables and tub holders using the same color palette.

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in this community project to renovate both departments and create a bright space where patients spend a lot of time,” said Zuzana Haringova, PPG human resources and compensation and benefits, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms, to bringing color to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed more than 170 Colorful Communities projects, impacting nearly 5 million people in 25 countries.
