PPG’s Carrollton plant to host students on National Manufacturing Day

CARROLLTON, Texas, Oct. 4, 2019 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) announced that its Carrollton, Texas plant will host more than 20 students from Texas Tech University, Southern Methodist University, The University of North Dallas and The University of Texas - Dallas today.

The event is being held to mark National Manufacturing Day, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which aims to address labor opportunities, connect with future generations of manufacturers and ensure success of the manufacturing industry.

“From engineering to management and more, there are a great range of career paths within the manufacturing industry,” said Hank Saunders, PPG plant manager, Carrollton. “Today’s event opens the door to career exploration for the next generation of manufacturers with a real-life look at plant operations and PPG employee opportunities.”

The university student visitors are preparing for future employment in the science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or manufacturing sector. They will explore employment opportunities and education options, hearing first-hand from PPG employees about the diverse and high-tech career paths within modern manufacturing.

The students will also participate in a tour of the plant and participate in a Q&A session with PPG plant employees across a variety of functions such as process and chemical engineering, management and business roles.

PPG’s Carrollton facility employs approximately 75 people and produces well-known paints and coatings for professionals and consumers, including the PPG PAINTS™ and GLIDDEN® brands.
