PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2003--For the third consecutive year, PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has been named paint Supplier of The Year by Decoma International, a manufacturer of decorative trim for the global automotive industry.

PPG, the world's leading manufacturer of transportation coatings, supplies Spectracron liquid topcoats and primers to 11 Decoma locations throughout North America. PPG was one of six suppliers that earned Decoma's Supplier of the Year award for 2002. J. Rich Alexander, PPG's vice president of industrial coatings, received the award at Decoma's recent supplier conference in Toronto.

The award serves as testimony to PPG's commitment to excellence in manufacturing and customer service, Alexander said.

"Our team is devoted not only to providing quality coatings products and services, but also to working closely with customers to understand their needs and anticipate their future requirements," he said.

"We take great pride in receiving this award from Decoma. Earning -- and maintaining -- a high level of customer satisfaction is a key to PPG's competitive advantage and leadership position in the coatings market."

Chris Rolko, Decoma's director of purchasing and continuous improvement, praised PPG for its "consistency, quality and performance."

"PPG is our largest paint supplier, but it never takes our business for granted," Rolko said. "The Supplier of the Year award highlights yet another year of PPG's unwavering commitment to Decoma International and our operating divisions."

Decoma, a subsidiary of Magna International, makes a wide range of exterior parts for cars and trucks including fascias, bumpers, mirrors and trim.

Pittsburgh-based PPG is the world's leading manufacturer of transportation coatings and a major global supplier of industrial and packaging coatings, and a leading North American producer of architectural coatings. In addition, PPG manufactures flat and fabricated glass, continuous-strand fiber glass and chemicals. Sales were US$8.1 billion for 2002.
