"Through the Colorful Communities initiative, we have been able to impact our communities and fulfill our mission of bringing color and brightness to people’s lives."

SÃO JOSÉ DOS PINHAIS, Paraná, Brazil, Dec. 4, 2018 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, Brazil, that helped revitalize the Lourdes Bonin Elementary School in the Afonso Pena district. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in nearby Pinhais, where PPG has an automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) coatings facility.

The project brought together approximately 30 PPG volunteers who spent a day revitalizing various spaces throughout the public school. PPG provided about 1,100 liters (242 gallons) of RENNER® paints and all painting materials.

Around 120 volunteers from the community joined the PPG volunteers to help paint the school’s interior and exterior walls. The color palette included a variety of colorful and bright colors to create a warm and cheerful environment for the more than 300 students that attend the elementary school. In addition to painting, the volunteers and the school’s students built and planted a vegetable garden on the patio.

“We recognize the power of color and how it can instantly transform a place in a positive way,” said Márcio Grossmann, PPG general manager, Latin America South, and a project volunteer. “Through the Colorful Communities initiative, we have been able to impact our communities and fulfill our mission of bringing color and brightness to people’s lives.”

This is the seventh Colorful Communities project in Brazil since the program’s launch in 2015 and the third project in 2018. In Sumaré, Colorful Communities projects have helped revitalize the Municipal School of Early Child Education Alfredo Castro Donaire, the Wadih Jorge Maluf School and the Volcano Project. The Centro de Integração da Criança Especial (Center for the Integration of Special Children), the Instituto do Câncer Infantil (Child Cancer Institute) and the José Maurício School in Porto Alegre were also recipients of Colorful Communities projects.

The Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms, to bringing color to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed more than 170 Colorful Communities projects, impacting more than 5 million people in 25 countries.
