More than 30 volunteers transform Spring Branch location
HOUSTON, Aug. 12, 2022 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project in Houston, Texas, that provided a colorful makeover for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. More than 30 PPG employee volunteers spent the day painting hallways and rooms throughout the organization’s Spring Branch location.
PPG provided more than 56 gallons (about 254 liters) of GLIDDEN™ paint by PPG and Glidden Max-Flex™ spray paint by PPG for the project. The PPG Foundation also granted the Boys & Girls Club a monetary donation to further support the organization.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to charitable projects, bringing color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as Houston, where PPG has 24 stores.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston serves more than 35,000 youth ages 6-17 and strives to inspire and enable them to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston is so grateful for the hard work that was put into this beautiful transformation,” said Kevin Hattery, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. “Thank you to PPG and the volunteers who joined together to graciously donate paint, products and time to give back to our community.”
Volunteers painted the Spring Branch location’s hallways and rooms using a color palette that included Ghost Writer (PPG007-3), Knights Armor (PPG1001-6) and Brilliant Blue (PPG1161-7). A game room mural featuring a design from a local muralist was a focal point of the day, with volunteers using some of PPG’s most popular paint colors to bring the work to life.
“Through our global Colorful Communities program, PPG paint can make life-changing differences by protecting and beautifying special places in our lives, and this facility is one of those places,” said Scott Bartlett, PPG vice president, global operations, Architectural Coatings. “The goal was to create engaging spaces for students to learn and grow, and I’m confident this team accomplished that.”
The Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world.
