Project carried out in partnership with Renault
SÃO PAULO, Sep. 12, 2023 - PPG (NYSE: PPG),
today announced that it has completed a colorful and transformative
makeover at the Borda Viva School in São José dos Pinhais
City, Brazil, through its New Paint for New start initiative, part of the company’s COLORFUL
COMMUNITIES® program. The project
was carried out in a partnership with automaker Renault combining PPG’s Colorful
Communities program with the Renault Institute initiative.
Volunteers from PPG and Renault carried out a project to renovate the Borda Viva School, Brazil, as part of PPG’s New Paint for a New Start initiative.
The project brought together 170 PPG volunteers from both companies, who painted the
school’s classrooms, playgrounds, and cafeteria using 160 gallons (600 liters) of RENNER™ Paints by
PPG in a vibrant color palette including Vining Ivy, PPG's 2023 Color of the Year. The external playground wall
was painted with an environmentally themed mural created by local artist GardPam. The garden was also
revitalized.
“PPG has been a great partner of Renault Brazil since we set up in
Paraná State 25 years ago,” said Caique Ferreira, vice president of the Renault Institute and
director of communication at Renault Brazil. “We were very pleased to transform the daily lives of the
communities in which we operate. With the renewed and more colorful environment, the children will certainly be
more motivated to learn and develop.”
During the months of June, July, and August, PPG is dedicating its efforts to
revitalize more than 25 schools worldwide through the New Paint for a New Start campaign, now in its second
year. For the campaign, PPG’s global color experts developed a special color palette for school
revitalization, combining educational goals and considering factors such as students' age and the influence of
local cultures.
“PPG employees from every region are coming together once again to protect and
beautify schools and learning spaces and inspire bright starts for students,” said Malesia Dunn, executive
director, PPG Foundation and Corporate Global Social Responsibility. “We are aiming to help young students
start each day with a positive outlook and create joyful spaces where they feel supported and
engaged.”
The Colorful
Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for
supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world.
Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and
PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms to bringing color to a
maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed more than
470 Colorful Communities projects,
impacting more than 8.2 million people in 50 countries.
